Hibiscus Face Mask :: Powerhouse Treatment for skin
Hibiscus, the plant we symbolize with adornment and ornamentation can do a lot more that just the good looks.
The flower of the plant has a long list of benefits for the skin. Hibiscus is a natural source for alpha-hydroxy acids. AHA's are very beneficial to skin as they are helpful to exfoliate, control oil glands by unclogging pore, giving a youthful smoother looking skin. AHA's also help to maintain firmness of the skin. Also AHA's are antioxidants that prevent skin from environmental pollution and also helps the pores to appear smaller.
The plant has high mucilage content making it a real good moisturizer. This combined with its anti ageing property makes it a powerhouse ingredient for our skin.
In this blog I am going to share a rejuvenating face mask that would have help prevent acne, resduce redness and inflammation on skin , increases skin elasticity , is rich in antioxidants and combats the ageing process giving you a youthful skin.
Ingredients
Base
Dried Hibiscus or Hibiscus Powder
Bentonite Clay or Brown rice Flour
For Mask
Base
Aloe Vera gel or Yogurt
Method
1. Grind a Handful of dreid hibiscus powder in a food processor or grinder. Alternatively you can also use organic hibiscus powder.
2. Mix 2 parts of hibiscus powder with 3 parts of Bentonite clay or brown rice flour.
3. Store the base in an air tight container and it will work for several weeks
4. For face mask take 2tsp of the base and mix it with Aloe Vera gel or Yogurt to make a smooth paste.
5. Apply it on your face and keep it for 10 minutes.
6. Splash some warm water over face and gently scrub the mask.
7. Wash the face with warm water
8. Apply a toner and moisturizer of your choice.
Apply this mask atleast once a week and in 3-4 weeks could see the results. Always do a patch test if you are using hibiscus for the first time. Your skin might catch the purple color of hibiscus temporarily but it will disappear soon. To prevent this discoloration exfoliate your skin well.
